Once you contact me, I will get back to you as soon as possible - usually within twenty-four hours.
If we decide to meet, we will set up an initial 30 minute appointment (free of charge).. The purpose of this (and perhaps the next few sessions) is for us to get to know one another. These initial sessions are a bit more structured than what follows. I aim to get a sense of who you are, and what brings you to therapy. You can get a sense of whether or not you feel comfortable with me. After this initial process, we can discuss how I might be able to help, what you would like to gain from therapy, and how we might effectively work together.
If we agree to work together, you will be offered a time slot of 50 minutes at the same time, each week. I find that weekly sessions are usually needed for the therapeutic process to be effective. I offer time-limited, short term (16 week) therapy, using a evidence-supported, effective modality called Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for working on specific issues.
Our work is confidential, within the limits of the law. This is something we will discuss..
I will do my best to create an environment which feels safe and secure -- a relational space in which you eventually feel trusting enough to open up, with honesty and without fear. On my part, I am committed to offering a genuine interaction and empathic, engaged dialogue, focussed always on you and your needs.
